November FundRun

Running for Epilepsy ! Friday November 16th-Left Toulouse at 6am for Brussels to the UCB headquarters where a 5kms (was actually 6,8 or more if you got lost) was organised to raise funds for epilepsy. 100 or so employees of UCB and myself took off running 5kms or walking 3.5kms at noon throughout the local country side….meanwhile in other countries-Germany, UK, USA other fundruns were taking place as well! In Europe 10,000€ were raised so next year maybe we’ll run further! It was almost like a bike race with 4 of us heading off in the first km making a ‘break away’…I stayed with Frank(a runner from UCB) and we ran side by side for some time with the two others clearly accelerating up ahead. At one point one of the runners lost contact and Frank (just like in cycling) bridged up to him. I told myself Id wait for the last kilometer to catch them near the line….I kept them at about 50-75m infront keeping the same pace as we ran into a field. Then suddenly I heard someone whistling, the guy leading us on a mountain bike was signaling to me that we were off course! I had been watching male butts instead of concentrating on the blue arrows on the ground…so I u-turned and asked him to tell the others up ahead as they hadn't heard my scream. So, it was a brisk wake up run, a good one at that….and we even got to run longer as a bonus.
